Victory Park Hematological Disorders Research Center is a global community of Medical Practitioners, dedicated to train together and explore innovative techniques and methods to aide in the healing and recovery process of the afflicted.
Some of the Proposed Research to be explored is as follows:
Hematological Disorders
The study of blood diseases is commonly known as hematology. There are medical doctors that specialize in this field, and they are called hematologists. There are different types of blood diseases in that an hematologist can classify.
Blood diseases are getting common nowadays. And so, proper dissemination of information is the key to the prevention of these diseases. Here are some commonly known blood diseases and their characteristics:
Anemia is an inherited abnormality of the red blood cells. Some cases of this disease are manifested as non-hematologic disorders. A person with anemia has decreased number of red blood cells, as well as the substance that transports hemoglobin oxygen. Several types of anemia can be associated with certain deficiencies. Vitamin B12 deficiency, folate deficiency, secondary aplastic anemia, and hemolytic anemia are just some of the examples.
This disease is characterized by the build up of cholesterol in the blood. When that happens, fats build up in the walls of the arteries that carry the blood to the heart. This disease can affect both children and adults. High blood cholesterol levels can cause the hardening of blood arteries, narrowing them down until they block or slow down the blood flow to the heart. The lesser amount of blood the heart gets, the lesser the oxygen it can process. And not enough oxygen in the heart can cause chest pains, heart attack, and worse, death. The build up of cholesterol is commonly caused of heart diseases. The rise of blood cholesterol levels can happen slowly in such a way patients are not aware of it.
This is a type of a blood disease that is caused by a worm called the Wucheriaand Brugia. These worms circulate in the bloodstream. The adult worm, on the other hand, lives in the lymphatic vessels of the infected person. Lymphatic Filiariasis is not life threatening, really. But it can certainly cause discomfort to your body. A person infected with it will have his limbs and genitals swollen. In some instances, it may also damage the kidneys and lymphatic system. The body’s ability to fight infection is affected as well. Currently, Lymphatic Filiariasis is the world’s second-leading cause of long term disability.
This is a type of blood disorder that is associated with too much iron in your body. The extent of this disease increases when the patient continues to have inadequate dietary iron in his system.
This disease is considered to be a rare blood disorder. The blood of the person who has this disease does not clot normally. Patients suffer longer bleeding. And that can damage their organs and tissues. Sometimes it may even lead to death. People who have hemophilia lack proteins that are needed for normal blood clotting. There are some important clotting factors in which the platelet work to help in proper blood clotting. Platelets are small pieces of blood cells that are formed on the bone marrow.
This type of blood disorder is a very common to everyone. And the most the most common results of this disease are heart and kidney diseases, as well as stroke. High Blood Pressure is commonly known also as a silent killer and much of that is because its symptoms do not normally show. The easiest way to prevent this disease is to regularly check your blood pressure. Exercise can also be very helpful in lowering the risk of the disease.
Leukemia is often called as the blood cancer. It is a malignant condition that affects the immature forming of the blood cells in the bone marrow. Just like any other type of cancer, leukemia is a result from the somatic mutations of the DNA that activate or deactivate the tumor suppressor genes. These may occur suddenly or as result of being exposed to radiation or carcinogenic substances that are influenced by genetic factor.
Sepsis is also known as the gram-negative and gram-positive bacterium. It is a type of an overwhelming life-threatening bacterial infection in the blood and the body organs. The bacteria that enter the body tissues through wounds or incisions may lead to the formation of pus. It then spreads the sepsis bacteria in the bloodstream. The common affected areas of this disorder are the lungs, genitourinary tract, liver, gastrointestinal tract, surgical wounds, and skin disturbances or bedsores.
These are some types of blood diseases that are commonly known to man. As such, both medical professionals seek for the cure in all of these potent blood diseases.
